A man in Berkley, California was surprised to discover $1,300 in cash stacked inside his Domino's delivery box last weekend, ABC reports. Mike Vegas says he was relaxing and enjoying his day off and decided to indulge in some Domino's pizza and wings. When his order arrived, he grabbed a slice and put the rest in the fridge for later.

Several hours went by before Vegas noticed multiple "random messages" on his phone. "I was at work so I wasn't answering," he says. Around 5 a.m., Vegas returned home from work and decided to dig into his box of chicken wings and found two stacks of cash totaling 1,300 bucks instead. The delivery driver had been on his way to the bank and had stored the stacks of cash in a wing box for safety. After dropping off Vegas's order he realized his mistake and tried to contact the customer.

In the interim, Vegas turned to Facebook and says there were plenty of people telling him keep it. "I wanted to keep it, believe me. But I can't, I can't do that," Vegas says. He decided to do the right thing by returning the money. As a thank you, the Domino's location is giving Vegas free pizza for a year. The pizza delivery driver was also allowed to keep his job.

Pizza delivery drivers do not have it easy. Not only are they responsible for high volumes of cash, they often encounter violence while on the job. In January, a ring of teenagers began targeting delivery drivers in Chicago for robberies at gunpoint. Another Papa John's employee in Atlanta faced a similar situation and was forced to defend herself by shooting the armed robber in the face. One dedicated driver in Louisville managed to complete all of his pizza deliveries even after being stabbed in the lung. Watch the full report below:
