Will there ever be a Blade 4? Will Wesley Snipes return baring fangs in the role of the Daywalker he made famous?
Snipes — who will next be seen in The Expendables 3 – revealed that he would definitely like to return to the role of the vamp-turned-vampire-slayer for a possible Blade sequel, and that there should be more black superheroes on the big screen.
(Hmm, Black Panther, anyone? Let's hope Marvel will answer all our prayers later today during its eagerly anticipated panel at San Diego Comic-Con.)
After the debacle that was Blade: Trinity back in 2004, the franchise was pretty much put to rest with a big fat wooden stake — and the itsy-bitsy fact that Snipes spent a couple of years in prison sure didn't help.
Marvel Studios then thankfully regained the rights to the character after a couple of years (which can only be a good thing, if they want to make another Blade flick). But Snipes, who was at San Diego Comic-Con for his role in The Expendables 3, told MTV News that he would jump back into the role if given the chance.
Here's what Snipes said:
"I'd be open to it. I think we've got some stones left unturned and there's some latitude left for us to build on and I'd love to get back in the suit again and do some things I've learned how to do now that I didn't know how to do then. I think we're better at making that kind of a film now. Some of the things we did in the early parts of the franchise were experimental and now they've become customary in a lot of the Avengers films and other comic book adaptations."
In a separate interview with EW Radio, the actor also added:
"Blade chasing the Twilight kids around? Hey man, there's always a possibility, and I'm open to it. There have been rumours around that we may explore the opportunity, so give me one more shot!"
What do you guys think? Would you love to see Wesley Snipes return to the role of Blade? Do you want a Blade 4 flick, or would you rather see the franchise rebooted?
